  • Bluestone - Natural Treasures Break

    May 11-15th 2009

Bluestone, Wales’ own holiday village, has unveiled a new break, designed as the perfect way to immerse yourself in the natural and historical riches for which Pembrokeshire is famous.

Inspired by the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of his most famous work, On the Origin of the Species, ‘Natural Treasures’ is a midweek break, taking place between May 11 and 15.

It incorporates a beach walk, led by an experienced naturalist and coastal scientist; a walk around the Bluestone site itself, led by resident historian Terry John; and a third walk focusing on the flora and fauna around picturesque Garron Pill.

There’ll also be cheese and wine tasting on the Monday night, a Taste of  Pembrokeshire supper on the Thursday night (at which there will also be prizes awarded for the best photograph taken during the week), and free single entry for every adult in the party to Bluestone’s lavish holistic spa, The Well.

The Natural Treasures break is strictly limited, and costs from £60 per person, per night.

Book, or find out more by calling n 01834 862400 or visiting Natural Treasures.

  • A Massive Thank You to GG Carriages.

    gg carriages
Visit Wales staff would like say a huge thank you to GG Carriages for donating their time, free van hire and bike transfer service for four days to our charity bike ride.
Our team of ten riders cycled the 160 miles of Celtic Trail from St David's in Pembrokeshire to Cardiff to raise money for Morriston Hospital who had treated a colleague who sadly lost her fight with a brain tumour. The ride raised over £5,000 and thanks to the kind and generous donation from GG Carriages we saved hundreds of pounds on transport.

GG Carriages have Minibuses and luxury Minicoaches for all occasions and also offer cycle trailers to transport up to 16 Mountain Bikes.

  • New Nantlle Ridge travel scheme launched

A pilot project which will provide transportation at budget prices is now available for people walking along Nantlle Ridge.

With no bus service currently available for those wishing to enjoy the popular walk, the Snowdonia Green Key Initiative has established a pioneering taxi service.

Following consultation with the local community, the Ramblers Association and Clwb Mynydda Cymru, it was decided that a taxi service would provide a sustainable and effective method of transport.
Instead of having to take two cars to walk the Nantlle Ridge, you can now for example, park one car at Talysarn or Penygroes, call the taxi which will take you to the start of the walk in Rhyd Ddu for the price of a bus fare, £1 each, and walk back to your car.
Snowdonia Green Key and Bws Gwynedd will subsidise the rest of the fare.
This service will only be available between Rhyd-Ddu, Talysarn and Penygroes.

The scheme will be available for members of the public between 7am and 7pm, by calling Huw’s Taxis on (01286) 676767 or 07967 881903.

    • For further information regarding the scheme, contact Megan Oliver, Snowdonia Green Key Initiative, on (01286) 679 901
    or
    • Trystan Lewis, Bws Gwynedd on (01286) 679535.
